Merciless predators and beasts of primal ferocity have always been close to Gaia, but rarely are they quite so vindictive and spiteful as Sivry, the Venomlace Medusa. In truth, the malicious intent of this coiling snake-witch would be better suited to the minions of Slern, but the sheer benefit of the Venomlace to the natural order has kept her and her kin bound to Gaia.
Deep in the Forest of Sighs, far from any outpost of the Old World, there lurks a swarming Venomlace hive. There, buried among millennia-old roots and creeping vines, the Venomlace guard something truly unnatural – a remnant, it is said, of the cataclysm that slew the Precursors. Whatever it may be, the Venomlace are keeping it paralyzed with titanic quantities of magic and poison. In fact, it is theorized that all Venomlace Medusae are a direct creation of Gaia herself – a strange evolutionary mutation built with the sole intent of creating something so vicious, toxic, and overpowering that nothing could resist its paralytic might. If this is true, and if the goddess of nature herself designed a beast for the sole purpose of containment, then what does that say about the power of their prisoner… or the destruction it could wreak if it were ever to be set free?
