Kirin was the mount of the legendary Halo Knight Kalron. The Battle of Valar’s Peak was pivotal in the War of the Five Gods. Both knight and mount fought valiantly together, but the battle was brutal and merciless. Although the battle was won, both the knight and steed were badly wounded. Kalron was forced to retire from the Halo Order. As for Kirin, the wounds earned in this final battle were one too many. Kalron called on the greatest healers this side of the Kalanti Crevass, yet all concluded that nothing could be done for the steed that gave so much in the name of Haala. All was not lost, however. The Vaulters, despite being mortal enemies of the Halo Order, were so taken by Kirin’s valor during the Great War that they dispatched their High Shaman to cross the endless Dune Sea and arrive at Valar’s Peak. Despite protests from some within The Order, citing heresy, the Shaman was allowed to heal Kirin. The condition was that an armorsmith from the Order be allowed to create the armor and prosthetics that would contain the Vorm healing techniques. Once fully healed, Kirin was more powerful than ever before, and outlived his faithful knight. He now roams the lands, ready to answer Haala’s summons.
